Managing Vulnerability

Course Overview

Fundraisers interact with a diverse range of people, including those experiencing vulnerability due to various personal, financial, or social circumstances. Ethical fundraising practices require sensitivity, awareness, and adherence to best practices that ensure donors in vulnerable circumstances are treated with dignity and respect.

Familiarise yourself with factors that contribute to vulnerability, recognise potential vulnerability and learn a range of best-practice approaches to responding to a donor experiencing vulnerability.  Explore ways to manage vulnerability so that you can raise and manage a donor’s gift ethically and transparently.

This training module explores the practical skills needed to recognise, respond to, and comply with ethical standards when engaging with individuals in vulnerable circumstances. By aligning with the FIA Code and best-practice guidelines, fundraisers will be empowered to conduct their work transparently and ethically, fostering public trust and ensuring sustainable donor relationships.

Participants will be provided with a learner guide to help them understand the key learning concepts, take notes, and answer questions to understand, respond to, and manage vulnerability effectively.
